thank you for your generous attempts I like the creativity here with the triangle (flash/lighting). Definitely a unique direction



I think I'd prefer a bit more abstract rather than literal, if possible

The first logo is really cool but I think it would have trouble tying into the topic/main idea here
Sent you some fg as a thank you - if you made that first logo, you should definitely consider going into work like this - thats a cool design I think people would like if it ties in closer to their business idea

I was going to see some other attempts to get some ideas, but I'm still not sure I know what you want.

Do you want it to say "TheShotDark" exactly? Or do you want it to be like a Rebus Puzzle? Your business name not having the word "in" really makes using a rebus puzzle type design tough because that's generally how they all work.

And if you don't mind me asking, why is it "TheShotDark"? Working with strange names is a lot harder in terms of coming up with a marketable image. "Shot Dark" would be easier, as would "The Dark Shot". I'm struggling to figure out what you want exactly.

All good my thought was like lens enveloped into the dark abstractly but now it just looks like an eye on the second look.

I think you're a little too caught up on the name in this case - the name isn't important, just that the design can kind of convey it. The main business has a name and professional "logo" , this is just a "side" part of that so I just want a graphic that I can use for social media accounts and such (since I have to keep the media separate).

A rebus puzzle wouldn't include the word "in".
This is an actual example of a rebus puzzle:


"Shot" is inbetween "the' and "dark".
Thus you get the meaning, "shot in the dark"





That was my exact thought! haha, I do like how creative and abstract it is - but maybe just a bit too far away from the goal in this case


A recent idea I had was a camera in a cavalier/isometric angle facing forward and inside the dark of the lens, in a circular shape around the inside edge of the lens it says "The Dark" and in the middle it says "shot".
Could also use a lighting stand with a beam of light (a shade of grey perhaps) in a black area (room) and somehow portray a "Shot" (by usage of the word, or by portraying a photo being taken)

Okay that picture was a really good reference point lol. So your business name is the literal reading of a rebus puzzle that represents "shot in the dark".

Not an expert, just thought id share an idea that popped up reading your post.

your name could be replaced with your real identity, maybe even "Ets on the left, date on the right." of the logo.
you could add a drop shadow or an 2 3 perspective. enlarge the central logo and play with it.
Could start with the logo and have your identity in a lettertype that flows more.
and not even talking about the background.
the gun might be a bit much, regardless the idea was having "shot" in the dark part of the logo.
