New to graphics. Been on D2JSP long enough that I feel like proper graphics are warranted. I have an idea of what I want, but have absolutely no idea how complicated it may be or fair market value, so let me know if my current fg bank is laughable.

I’d like the monster from the cover of Where the Wild Things Are (picture below) but sitting by a coiled sword in a bonfire from Dark Souls 3. Would love for bits to be animated, maybe bonfire flickering or smoke rolling in from the left side of book cover.

Edit: I never answered your first question. I’d prefer that monster in that pose, but can certainly be from another image if it’s easier to pull from.

How does it work then? If it costs say, 1.5k, do I pay up front and then am locked into working with a specific artist? If not, how does the artist get compensated if I’m not “sold” on the design?

Budget: I think if 1-2k is good, then somewhere within that range? Would like to save a little bit for some item bids.
Colors: those washed out water colors are cool on the cover. The palette there is nice (greens, greys, etc.)
Fonts: probably a sans serif similar to the book cover in small caps (my handle, ToasterMcKinley, in small caps though so Mc does’t look stupid.)

By doing a thread request you state a budget like 500-1000 for a not animated or 1000 to 2000fg for an animated and people do their best to make a good attempt then if someone do a good one you really like you can do final edit with him like if you like everything but font is not your taste you can ask and pay him and get a new signature-avatar.
If you don't like you can wait for more attempts you dont have to pay everyone for their attempts its like a gamble .. every artist here has his style

This one is bad ass too but uses the image from live-action movie from WTWTA. If no response from spahx or archangel, could pretty much use this one as is. Awesome job.
