Which one would be the best choice for mainly pve tanking? I know the basics like, easier to survive as Templar etc, i aware of the disadvantage of this class aswell, but do i actually need to deal dmg too? What about AP instances?

So shortly again: Does templar actually required or gladiator is more, than enough for tanking role?

Sorry for such a stupid question, but i have been playing long ago, and i do not know exactly how much the game has changed.

templar is now required for PvE, MR templars too.. for DLR (12 man instance).


Glads job is dual - wield in PVE, templar is to tank. You decide.

with a tank you can wield a sword/mace and shield, aaaand a two handed sword. so if you need to put out a bit more damage, just switch over to the great sword. tanks are fun and all, but a bit boring for my taste.
tanks are amazing for pulling and holding agro also, not as much as the glad.
Glads on the other hand are supposed to be the main DPS in the game. they wield a two handed polearm, greatsword, or two swords. my fav is a glad just because i like pwning ppl in pvp haha. glads are able to tank for a short period of time, but if it's something strong, you better bring along a cleric, or chanter to help you out, as things can get heated in a blink of the eye.

Templars are now more effective than Gladiators in PvE and PvP.

As far as Solo/Group/Raid, Templars excel over glads in PvP for Solo and Group. Templars excel over glads in PvE for Group. They're equal in Raid.
