my friend and i are starting aion (ive been playing for a bit, but im gonna restart a new character). what do you think is going to be a fun, but good class combo to do?
were probably just gonna go gladiator and cleric. because i hear they're both pretty solid classes all the way through the game.

what do you guys think?

Gladiator and Chanter.


Asmos has a better map layout, and some would say a more preferable design.
Asmos have it easier to level and gear 1-20.
However elyos have it easier to level and gear 20-50.


Roll what you want, what you would think you'd like most,

chanter over cleric? whys that?
i never really looked into a chanter but i figured a cleric would be more useful.

chanters can use an instant heal over time spell on a target, while keeping mantras up that increase overall speed of killing. they do better dps than a cleric in this regard (group orientation). they have sub par heals, however they can heal through elites damage while the glad tanks and kills (they can help dps too). cleric dps is alright, and they have major heals. but you will lack the mantras. if its glad/cleric you will be able to instantly recruit dps for dungeons below level 51. however if you have a chanter you might still need a cleric (he would dedicate to heal). aside from this, it will make a good pvp team.

Even for grinding normal mobs, such as fort guards...

Chanters are better DPS than glads in PvE when they learn to weave, but glads can tank more and generally do more DPS since most people cannot perfectly play a chanter

Chanters have enough heals to do enough good. Aswell as the mantras they provide.

While a cleric can heal more, the chanter will make the group do more DPS, while still being able to heal the glad just fine.

It's also a lot more fun of a character, and people won't bitch at you if your group whipes.

mmmm. ill have to look into a chanter i guess. we'd be fine with heals if i was chanter though? like, just basic grinding. not duengons

DPS meter has shown, in a S rank DP run, that our glad had more than the TRIPLE of the DPS on the chanter (including chanter's mantras and AoE's tho) ... and i'm talking about the overall runs, not the boss. Take away chanter mantra and AoE dmg, the glad still have more than 2x more DPS than the chanter. Glad was full fenris with a +4 lvl 50 elite spear, chanter was +10 lannok staff, so it's pretty equivalent.

i mean seriously ... even me, as a temp, had more DPS than that chanter

im still thinking cleric would be ideal though. then we would be all set getting into dungeons and groups together.
how is the clerics dps though? is it still alright? or is the chanters just way better?

cleric dps is pretty terrible until you get to high levels and get servants but even then its meh... chanters have decent dps but still doesnt really compare to any other dps class however their heals, instant stun every 12s or w.e, and mantras make them a lot more useful and they are grind kings.. but yea that was a facepalm moment because chanters are no where near glads in dps
