So, being bored of WoW like many people are, I was subdued by the Aion hype and decided to try it out.
The game sucks, I'm not wasting my time getting into overly details but:
- Once again, we have another WoW clone: copied interface, copied quest style, etc.
- The flight mechanic in the game sucks.
- You can't swim, you sink to the bottom of lakes and just keep walking.
- The graphics are not good at all, too many people claimed it looked so awesome, but the graphics are actually extremely lacking. Yes it looks better than WoW, but *everything* looks better than WoW. The art style is your typical generic asian MMO design. The most detailed thing about the game are the character models. Everything else is very bland - the environments, enemy NPCs, etc. look terrible, textures aren't very detailed, there's a weird "cardboard cutout" effect around the edges of characters and NPCs. I run a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of Ram, and a GTX 295, so no it's not my computer, the game just doesn't look good.
To me, a good looking game is Fall Out 3, Call of Duty 4, Gears of War, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2, Fight Night Round 4, etc - these are games that push the envelope of current technology. Aion is not one of these games, it looks like a good looking 2005 game. It looks like sh*t compared to the real graphic powerhouses. Now I don't think graphics are everything but with so much hype around this I expected much, much more.
And that is all, just don't bother.
