Well in WoW in Raids, WG, and other such places you turn down your graphics so you dont lag.

You are running at the same graphics you do in those small places. With all the people casting the animations will really drop your graphics rate(FPS).

So if you run into these problems lower your settings and you will be golden

Thing is, I had my settings on low in WoW.

Usually my lag comes from 20+ people casting spells and shit.
I'm afraid Aion will be filled with that.

tbh your pc will probably die at fortress raids

5gb, quad core processor, 9600 geforce, and I still have trouble @ fortress raids.

Theres 50+ elyos, not even kidding, all I see is red names. Their bodies don't show up for 3 minutes into the all out brawl, 50 on 50 while trying to get into the fortress.
Epic fun though.

thats mostly because Aion is capped at 2gb of RAM usage. it cant take more RAM than that, thus the lag

5Gb ram - again you say nothing about it. But 5gb is more than i believe the program will even register.
