Some abilities are not able to be used until previous skills have been used. These skill chains are generally stronger, short or instant cast so managing them well in combat is very important.

So once you start using a chain you pretty much have to finish it or else you go back to long casts with lower damage?

Seems like you go to LESS diversity because you to maximize damage you should finish the chain

Depends on your class, but saving these chains in a PvP situation(such as the sorc knockback chain) is going to be a integral strategy.

It works like a tree, more than one skill is able to be cast once you use the beginning skill.

So lets say you use a skill that just hits em for damage, that can unlock 2 skills one that can stun your opponent or one that can do even heavier damage and so on, so depending on your situation it is very diverse
