Looking for peoples opinions that have played both.

I play GW but im interested in Aion.

Anyone that has played both care to list likes/dislikes, pros/cons, or just their opinion of Aion in general?

Both games has their pros and cons, and Aion is a new release so there's a few things that needs to be worked out...if you like mmos, Aion is better (gw can't even be put into that category since you get your own instances every time you zone), pure pvp wise...I would have said gw like 2 years back, but being a veteran I have been bored of gw for a while now, and Aion even though requires a TON of grinding as far as I've seen so far has it's level of entertainment that shouldn't be overlooked.

Graphics wise I'd say Aion is far better from an artistic and psychedelic point of view compared to gw...however the pvp "raids" can be pretty ridiculous and no matter what anyone says, doesn't require as much tactical gameplay as gw did because it's mostly button mashing...no real "interrupting" system is available either...it's usually random unless you do stuff like time your stuns (which are usually a % chance to stun, so they don't always work) or when you hit very hard while they cast.

Ranged classes, clerics and chanters...especially clerics are extremely op compared to those melee classes...but many claim that the game is balanced for group pvp...though I have yet to see this in action.

better gfx, fast paced (in aion there isnt a skill under 1sec cast, instant cast have 1s animation, altho a cool thing is u can move while casting insta casts), organized pvp, most balanced game as of pvp, pvp requires strategy, playing a build requires to play it smart, the game is skill-dependant and not gear dependant (which means its not the one who plays the most thats the best, but the most skilled one), no getting ganked by ppl 10 lvls higher while ure doing stuff

improved wow gfx, can move while casting insta casts, a lot of grinding (if thats wat u like), flying (even tho it cant be anywhere and theres a time limit), gear dependant (if u like killing lower lvls or ppl with bad gear just cos u have better gear, not cos ure actually better), laggy when u get into sieges, even if you have a good computer ur ping will go up, takes a lot of time to get into the fun stuff and get competitive(get to lvl 50)

its a difference with gw... in gw when ur char gets into a cast animation, u cant more, whereas in aion if its an insta cast u can still move during the animation.. ohh btw u may not know yet.. but in aion insta casts have 1sec animation... so yea u can move during that animation

guild wars is a joke.(thank izzy and gale) if [TaNK] got a bronze trim for just getting into a mat it shows how bad the game died like idk when factions came out haha. as a veteran top player in gw id say aion, as far as i know playing aion im not much of a pve guy so it takes me some motivation to even level haha, it takes quite a bit to lvl and after around lvl 15 you need like 4 people groups + to kill elites in some of the campaing main quests. i havent done any real pvp in aion so idk which class just rick rolls in ganks or is overall "balanced" but i never seen any mmo that is balanced to begin with so i cant really say much about aion since im still kinda new to it. some things that gw has better is the pvp system, it kinda beats any game out there. with its calling system and compass its insanely good idk why other games dont pick that up. kurow is right about interrupts, cant really time your shit good enough to make someone worthless or get 1 skill off but since gw is so shitty with all its nerfs both games are somewhat button mashed, just gw takes a tad more coordination. id go with aion, if aion fails you just wait for sc2 and d3 baby and look at porn till they come out! haha jk

yes the pvp is extremely unbalanced right now. for example melee vs a cleric or sm . the sm has slows out the ass pet heals and a physi dmg shield. all of these things make it extremely difficult for melee to even get any dmg in. the cleric cant always kill melee because they dont do mass amounts of damage but currently i have yet to see a templar or glad kill a cleric.

you're mad because you get your ass handed to you daily. my level 21 templar has killed level 25-30's with his durable steel shit its possible to rape as long as you arent a complete dumbass and know how to spec skills
