how is the pvp in this game? if any of you have played age of conan, how does it compare to that? is it turn-based, realtime, or what? how fast-paced is it?

is it world pvp? like, if you see someone you can gank them? is it some kind of duel system or hostility system like in Diablo? are there PvP areas/servers or something? explain everything pvp-related if you can :)

Lets make another topic that asks what Aion is like instead of reading the other 100s other people haven't bothered to respond.

let's waste my time scrolling through a few hundred posts trying to find one about pvp which i didn't see when i DID scroll through about 60-80

and also, let's make retarded comments that are completely ignorant and not helpful instead of simply answering the question

please, let's.

I hear PvP pretty well blows until you're level 30-40 and up.

It's realtime, sort of... WoW/Silkroad/Perfect World -esque. It's not very fast paced at all. As of right now, to use a skill, you pretty well have to be standing still. I'm praying they change that... it keeps the game from being as fluid as others, and is going to keep it from being the WoW-killer it was hyped up to be. The game just isn't as smooth overall as others I've played... even some crappy games had smoother gameplay. It's still in development, so I'm not passing total judgement yet, and plan on giving them the benefit of the doubt for a while.... Hopefully it gets better. My suggestion is to wait a few months before getting into Aion.

thanks, this was very helpful

the main reason i get into mmo's is for pvp.. thats why i love AoC so much

i don't have that much fun for pve. my main objective with pve is getting better for pvp :P
i'll probably take your advice and wait.

i'd like more insight if anyone else can offer it still, though

Never a problem, and if you'd like to add me on here I'd be glad to keep you updated from time to time.

I plan on getting into the PvP as well, and I'm sorta the same way. I thoroughly enjoy PvP, and use PvE to either practice or gear up for PvP. I'm sick of WoW, mainly because most of my friends transfered their toons to another server while I was in basic training, so I've got no one to goof off with. Giving Aion a shot, and if it sucks I'll just consider it taking one for the team. Hehe.

will do

if you end up disliking aion, try age of conan.. it improved a lot since launch and the pvp is probably the best i've experienced in a MMO :P

aion has so many more people i thought it might have something to it, but if it's mostly PvE i know i'd get bored before i got to the majority of the content

The "I hear" implies that he's under 30. The "to use a skill, you pretty well have to be standing still" implies that he is a sorc. 1~30 with a sorc can be done in 5 days rather effortlessly. Take this opinion with a grain of salt.

How good the PvP is is strictly dependent on how good the group you are with is. Unless you're being ganked in the abyss, most of the fights are in large numbers anyways. All areas are open pvp, you can only kill people from the opposing factions. Areas past ~level 20 can all be accessed by both factions with varying degrees of difficulty.

I honestly think that the only reason tons of people are playing is because of the hype - and the fact that they paid $50 for the game. Locked them in and they figure why not? Granted, I know some people that really enjoy it, but the little things that appeal to me just aren't there yet to make it a game I really enjoy.
