I want to change the colors of my avatar so that it matches my orb/sig. I imagine the optimal way would be to change the blue cloth to the greenish color and the red cloth to the pinkish color.

Is there any way to change only the colors of each of those sections while maintaining the shading so that it looks the same just a different color? I don't have Photoshop installed atm but have GIMP. Any advice?

In case it's helpful:

pink color: #c3475d
green color: #2f7f5e

I'm not extremely familiar with GIMP but if you have the capability to mask layers I would recolor the work on two separate layers and mask out the rest of the image so the only colors that change are the blue and red cloths.

I actually had better results with hue/saturation, but the same technique still applies.

(sorry I can't post photos yet, but the first one should give you an idea of what I did)
