Hello fellow JSP users. Today I come to all of you looking for feedback.
My girlfriend is an avid artist, and will often draw me items/characters from video games at my request.
I've told her she is amazing as what she does, and that she could potentially make a business out of her talent.

I recently requested that she draw me the gun "Hawkmoon" from the game "Destiny".
Here is the actual gun from the game:

This is the gun she drew me:

What I am wondering, is if any of you came across a booth or a website that sold hand drawn pictures similar to this one, would you guys buy them?
I am looking for honest feedback as to what you think of the drawing, and whether or not you think she could market something like this to the world.

Thank you in advance :)

It's good, but it's just not compelling enough for me to want to pick it up and buy it. Maybe it's partly because I'm not interested in pictures of guns, but she most definitely has talent. I wish her the best of luck.

It's not career-level good, unfortunately. She's talented, but the inconsistencies between the picture and illustration are obvious. People far more talented than her or I still have a hard time making a living off of illustrating. I personally can't think of an artist who is famous for pencil sketches. They usually use different mediums. I think if she is equally talented with oil, acrylic, water color, ink, and/or digital painting, then she would have a better chance of making money. Also, how is the quality of her original artwork?

Regarding where to sell, I googled 'how to sell artwork online' and got a bunch of options. My local city has a buy/sell/trade facebook page too, so she could look into that for her city. She should probably make a portfolio website, which can be done for free on multiple websites. Google 'free portfolio website'.

sorry buti disagree in almost every point except for "They usually use different mediums"

concerning the drawing its a pretty good "copy". you can only tell she has a good eye and manages (quite well) to draw what is on the reference. however, for my part art is not about copying rather than giving a perspective how a certain person sees things

For you to disagree with my other comments is illogical since they're directly related to the one you do agree with. OP only posted a single piece of artwork, which is a pencil sketch of an image. Based on the only piece available to judge, it's not going to produce a living wage. I also didn't really make multiple points. A pencil sketch won't produce a living wage and other mediums will. Regarding the critique of the piece, the person didn't get to this level by receiving dishonest critiques. I'm sure she has thick enough skin for someone to point out the inconsistencies. Critique=/=flame. "If your old work doesn't shame you, then you're not improving."

It's not really an appealing subject matter. Well drawn no doubt, but not something that I would hang up at any time, simply because it is a boring picture.

Well the perspective is incorrect, provided she did freehand it, but some spots are unforgivable, so that right there tells me that she can't draw from imagination.

Values are nice though and the forms read.

As far as making a living, she has a long way to go but if she is 100% untrained then that drawing certainly shows promise.

So true! I look back on some of my old stuff and wonder what I was thinking.
