not to be a dick or anything but you can't just soft brush the edges of something and call it lighting

Should usually always darken both of the feet.

blending her (giving her a bluish tint) to fit into the background was also a tough part

What does the source image look like? It looks super flat as if a inner shadow was applied. It also looks really blown out. If you wanted to light something with so many edges, then you'd need to take the time to brush every feather..
