is it against the rules if my sig exceeds parameters slightly due to curvature etc (all protruding parts are transparent)

Yes. 400x150 pixels is the limit.

Can anyone help me out with editing this sig then? I just made it up but the editors im using dont seem to be able to get rid of the outer border, I need to reduce it to 400x150 without losing the outside transparency....

also those couple of white spots look bleh too

The dimensions are too large, plus the file size is too large as well.

ah well this time i was really trying to fit dimensions.......the editor i was using cropped to 400x150

how do you reduce file size?

most common way with an image is to lower the quality on a jpeg export. Since it can be dropped to any percentage, easily. PNG is naturally very small. So export for web: PNG works often too. (gif does the same but looks like shit usually)

Some programs let you lossy a png file. I use Blender to do such things. It's free just hard to use/ long learning curve.

When using photoshop you're able to reduce the file size with jpegs/gifs by reducing the quality and/or colors in the 'Save for Web' section, but if you want to maintain the nice quality and smooth shadow of a transparent png, then it's naturally going to be a larger file size, so I upload all my pngs to tinypng.com and it usually reduces the file size by 60-70%. It keeps the quality, but gets rid of all the data the file holds.
