trying to make a hand painted grass texture for this thing i'm working on, and i've literally never done anything remotely like this before :)
was wondering if you guys could give me some techniques on the placement of my brush strokes or something, and a pattern that would make it harder to see where one tile ends/starts
i want it to look like a beautiful, smooth, endless grass texture but when i slap it on my object it looks like a bunch of slime blocks from minecraft haha
here is my attempt:

if you could give me some advice or tips or techniques or something to help make this look like awesome hand painted / cell shaded / whatever you want to call it cartoon grass then that would be awesome. ty!

google "seamless pattern creation" and emulate the fundamentals of that to create a grass texture

The offset filter is handy for this. Also, you could probably make a better grass texture using the noise filter than what you have there

i like this style of hand painted art:

also, i'm completely new to photoshop. i'm using a 1024x1024 res document, and when i offset it by 512x512, it's still easily noticiable. i think i need to have it so that the offset image in photoshop has all 4 corners filled in, but only the center is empty.
if i have it so that too much of it is empty, then there will be white spots in the material. if i overlap the center, then it won't be seamless
are there any tools that would be helpful for that? if that's even the problem, idk lol

Photoshop comes with some grass brushes loaded into it. You can try using those maybe?

What kind of look are you going for?

If you have not yet watched this, it's a great guide

Seems as though you looked over the correct answer already, which is google a tile pattern. There are countless options, although I don't know how seamless they area, they're still better than what you currently have.

i didn't overlook it, i googled it and i'm still having problems. would rather speak to someone who knows what they're doing and can talk to me, instead of someone who says "just google it" you know?
