Ok so first of all, -------THIS IS FAR FROM FINISHED-------. Havent had photoshop for a while so just getting back into the swing of things and learning CS6

Slowly trying to get the basic figure of the gateway down, starting to hit some snags and dead ends in places. Having trouble blending it into the picture and adding 3d look , among other things.

I'm reading up on some tutorials and not having too much luck

Any suggestions, tips, advice as how to go forward would be greatly appreciated. Any and all opinions welcome ! :)

you dont have to bump here, and I understand that you may be rusty but the image is terrible. looks like it took 2 mins

you need to add some filters and maps in there for it to blend better, the stock picture is of some huge valley making those stones way to large to be realistic

i dont see this becoming anything tbh

Ok, so you suggest scrap it, fair enough.

How would you suggest going about a 2nd attempt ?

tutorials on basic photoshop things, before you throw yourself into something that may be hard to do, if you want it to look good, and not something like a huge c/p job

yea, nothing really blends together. it's almost like you glued a picture over another one.

try to work on shadows and subtle coloring/adjustment in order to make it look as natural as possible.

the portal itself looks like a joke, a big black round brush on a green background.

Just keep messing around with stuff, maybe when you're experienced enough you'll be able to pull it off, but for now, you should scrap this and try simpler manips.

good luck

Well yea of course it looks like c/p right now, and that is bc it majority is, all photo manipulation is. And it is just brushing for right now. As I stated at the top this is far from finished and was just getting the BASIC SHAPES on canvas.

People should probably read text in an image instead of automatically thinking something is what I consider finshed work.

Going to keep searching for intelligent advice instead of people who dont care to read anything and go straight for the negative.

It mostly is c/p over each other and simple brush, AS A START to get the idea and placements on paper. That is implied under the picture itself.

What I am asking in this post are ideas and suggestions on where to go forward. Not whether or not you think the "rough draft" is perfect

This:
try to work on shadows and subtle coloring/adjustment in order to make it look as natural as possible.

Is a more useful response than anything
