In gimp the white background here is transparent, how can I make this transparent on here aswell?

also, the png on my computer is also has the white showing as transparent



No critics please

edit: it could be that I'm exporting it the wrong way, I'm using gimp.

it's a jpeg

in gimp
>layer
>transparency
>add alpha channel

then delete the parts you want to be transparent

in order for transparency to show save as .png

hmm, I tried that but still no luck

Does it do the same thing when you upload to imgur?

Perhaps you are unknowingly using one of the upload options that imageshack offers that may be resizing or modifying your upload changing it to a jpeg

make sure transparency is checked when you save. Otherwise it fills in transparent areas with white.

Thanks guys, I uploaded it through imgur and that removed the white background. Then cropped out the blank space.


I couldn't find the "save as transparent" button though, is this in gimp or on the website?

I use photoshop, was assuming gimp had the option to.
