First time opening photoshop brought this as a result.

Honestly didn't have much of a clue what I was doing. Was told to look up some textures, c4ds, and that's about it.

I'm not sure any of the effects photoshop is capable of. I've seen what it's capable of via other people but not actually sure how you go about doing any of it! :)

Anyways, I feel as if it's over sharpened, I wasn't really sure how to fix that, or maybe it's the render but probably the sharpening.

The entire right half was basically empty at first so I added the linear dodge but I think it makes it too bright. I always kinda thought borders were a general consensus but it almost seems, at least for me that no border may look better for this.

Anyways, if anyone could give me some pointers, tips, tricks, easy tutorials to follow so that I can just get the hang of the PS controls, that'd be awesome.

Thanks in advance ^_^

Very good for your first try. The render placement is also in a decent 1/3 spot. You could probably crop off some of the right side for sure. I would definitely do a different border though..it's very harsh. You could try maybe reducing the size or changing the color to match something similar in the sig.. or remove. Also, your top bar is a different size from the bottom. The text is also hard to read, but it's in a decent placement in regards to focal point. I would probably put it below the gun in a creative way actually since there's more negative space there. Regarding sharpening, sometimes sharpening really enhances the sig, but there are some parts that look bad.. like the white parts on her arm and hair. I would just go in and erase just those parts without having to undo the overall sharpening. You can fix this in multiple ways. you can erase, paint over, stamp over, or mask it. erase/paint/stamp are in your tools palette.. mask is at the bottom of your layers palette and looks like a circle inside a square [ o ]

Regarding the border, I was kinda confused about this cuz I noticed it myself despite actually duplicating the layer so it would be the same measurement..

Certain viewers tend to skew pixels, such as adobe acrobat, but in this instance I don't think it's being skewed, so I'm not sure what to tell you unless you bumped the bottom one a little too far down, because they're definitely different sizes.
