you can't stretch it with a setting.
besides, if you stretched that tiny image for your whole profile background, it would be terrible quality.
finding a larger image would be your best option.

oh, i didn't bother to check the kb it loaded pretty fast for me, so i thought it wasn't too big.

There's no kb limit on backgrounds. I seem to remember it being like 512 kb, but a member++ told me just a few days ago they just couldn't be "extremely large" (I think it was these words that were used).

saying that "they can't be extremely large" doesnt mean theres no limit.

there is a limit, and it won't let you change your background if its above the limit.
