So, I have this image with white text, and a blue background, But I want to invert the colors. Anyone know the best way to do this if you don't have the original photoshop layers? I'm ready to just run illustrator and trace the text and fill that way... but I'm afraid I'll compromise the sharpness of the text.

why don't you have the original layers?

I have the original psd.. well sorta.... but the only way to change the colors is by manipulating the channels etc.... i dont have control over solely the text layer...

if the text layer is rasterized, then just create a clipping mask over it?

Use magic wand tool to select the items you want inverted (if they are just plain colors), make a new layer with just those items and invert it.
I'm not quite sure I understand the question as it seems easy.

Using both of your suggestions I was able to just magic wand.... create 50 different layers... then clipping mask those layers to get the overall desired color. Thanks for the help!
