Do Graphic Advertisers and movie makers get a good salary? Is it something I should go into? Im really good with computers. html, graphic design, and networking. Would it be the best choice?

I would go with some sort of coding/programming personally

Graphic designers do make a great starting salary IF you get in with some sort of company.... freelance can make good money too but the job security is almost none.

this is very true, 70% of students in my senior design class when asked what were their future goals, they said they dont even plan on continuing design as they have been drained from it.

Programming/Website development. Fantastic money in that.



^ Unless you find you have an extreme interest and are constantly devoting your time then I'd might reconsider.

I'm in school for graphic design right now and I do find myself finding a huge interest in the topic.

We are spending little time on Photoshop and Illustrator and more time doing physical work though.

work load right now is:
Typography
Print Production
Design
Digital applications (PS ILL and INDESIGN)
Life Drawing

I'm starting to rethink what I want to do though.

I'm telling you right now though, Don't let money lead you to your career for (Cliche time) Money can only bring you so much happiness.

i really have no idea why somebody would want to do graphic design as a career choice

I do UI/UX design for an iOS and Webapp company and I enjoy it. I also do website design freelance but the freelance isn't consistent enough as I cannot devote enough time into it. I enjoy my jobs a lot but I also do some coding on the side to make sure I can cover my bases. It really boils down to what you think you will be happy doing. I know plenty of guys who make significantly more than I do working for mass-website production companies and hate it because the work is monotonous and you are drained of any creativity, I personally would never work there even with the much larger paycheck.

I would say if there is a niche area in design you truly love doing and excel at then try to get into it.
