Pretty much what kill said, the canvas is whatever space you're working with, a stock image is just a regular image... could be a background scene, a full piece of art or photography... a render either describes a character that has been cut out from it's original stock image, or perhaps a C4D render (google it if you're not sure) or something other abstract render.
You stick them all together!
