No. Doing websites is unrelated to graphic design but related in a way. If you want to make a website I suggest just buying a premade template online and use it for wordpress. Will save time. If you want to make your own I think you should get more training because you pretty much have to code the website in CSS, HTML, and PHP which you probably dont know.
there is so much wrong with this comment.
web design is graphic design. graphic design doesn't apply to a specific field of study, it's just as broad as the term "art" except it applies to marketing, advertisement, and the general organization of information to create a cohesive brand or message to a client or demographic.
don't buy a premade wordpress template. you're just dicking around in photoshop trying to figure out the ropes, and what's more is that wordpress is around for blogging/cms, not just run-of-the-mill diablo 3 websites for funsies. they're good if you want to host your resume with an embedded blog/contact, and use it to store your portfolio, but i digress. don't go anywhere near wordpress right now.
good coding is about saving time. to learn good coding you have to learn to code first. basically, you should hard-code everything you do until you have good code, and then you can use pre-written snippets of code to build sites from there.
basically, ignore everything this dude said, and read what i wrote above it. the templates xadam123 is referring to are entire website layout sources, with all the css/html/php/xql documents. you don't need that. you want photoshop/fireworks documents that have some grid lines in them so you can keep having fun in photoshop designing page mock-ups.
