Well uh, I was going to make this over a month ago but stuff came up.

I'll lay down some basic stuff first.

History:
-I've been making signatures for about 6 years now, spamming C4D's for all 6 of those years pretty much.
-I'm getting kind of bored of that.

Things that I can do:
-Take C&C well, as long as it's constructive and not just insulting.
-Read basic things like tips and tricks (things like rules of thirds, color harmonies, etc.).

Things that I can't do:
-Read tutorials and follow them (I'll get to step 3 and do my own thing normally. To this day I've only done 4 probably).
-Typography, for the most part. If I can find something that fits I'll add it, but don't expect it.

Misc. stuff:
-I have tendency to progress quite slowly. The lack of doing tutorials is no doubt a reason.
-Don't expect this thread to update often.
-All of the signatures in this thread will be gifts for people.
-These signatures will always have anime girls in them. It's all I'm able to really work with.
-The monitor that I'm currently using isn't all that good for things that aren't in motion.

Anyway, moving on.

23/12/2012: Gift for Dragonox
Time: 2 hours, excluding rendering.

As with most firsts of a new style, there's a lot lacking in it. For instance, the lack of blending. This was mainly an initial dive at smudging basics for me.
I was also lazy and magic wanded the render out (I'll properly render the ones for this thread from now on).
Attempts were made at fixing the lighting on the render, but I wasn't able to get it to look how I wanted it to look.

Thanks for looking.

Wow, there's just so much that's wrong with this that I don't know where to begin. It's just too bad to fix. My best advice would be to just uninstall photoshop all together.

I feel like there's a lack of detail almost? Still, better than the average smudge imo. However, the render kills it completely. Too bright (maybe sharpened can't tell cuz too bright).

Just my opinion though.

are you using a tablet or a mouse?

change the dpi on your mouse for ease

[2/1/2013 10:02:39 AM] Sane FX: most people adjust their mouse speed with the windows mouse stuff, which is like the worst thing you can do
[2/1/2013 10:03:01 AM] Sane FX: the only good way to do this is via raising/lowering the dpi of the mouse
[2/1/2013 10:03:21 AM] Sane FX: and set the windows mouse settings to standard
[2/1/2013 10:03:35 AM] Sane FX: as well as doing some windows reg edit tweaks
[2/1/2013 10:03:39 AM] Sane FX: to get 1:1 accuracy
[2/1/2013 10:03:46 AM] Sane FX: otherwise windows "adjusts" your movements
[2/1/2013 10:03:59 AM] Sane FX: = not accurate

Yeah, the render wasn't a good choice. After rendering it with a magic wand and sharpening it on top of that it just looked pretty bad. The adjustments that I had made to it helped it, but caused other problems.

By contrast, do you mean the render? I'm aware that that's way off. Or do you just mean the signature in general.

I'm using a mouse. My mouse goes up to 6400dpi. I only use 800dpi of it. It's what I'm comfortable with and have used for a very long time.

Probably the render itself is what reborn is mentioning but I'd rather not say that for certain since I can't talk for him.

i mean the brights are too damn bright, especially on the render, aka contrast (between light and dark)

I'll keep it in mind for the next signature then. Thanks for your input.
