So over the past month I've been perusing and participating in the graphic request forum.. It seems like there are a lot of people passing off work that took 15 minutes at most to try to make a quick buck.

Am I the only one that Is attempting to spend time to get better?
Signatures should take time, sometimes a lot of it.. I started about a month ago, where I opened photoshop for the first time. I've spent TONS of time doing signatures for no one, hell there are about 40 of them that haven't made it into the profile because with each new method I learn to make something look BETTER I have to go back through my gallery and delete the sigs that I find unworthy.
It's very easy to take a render and drag it on top of a texture, but where are the artists who have a vision of what they want the end result to look like? The artists who want the customer to have a polished product that they can be proud to put in their personal photo gallery?

I'd like to see some sigs that are inspired, it's no fun seeing signatures that I can with 100% assurance say are made up of 2-5 layers and a block of text.

By no means am I saying that I am great at making signatures, I have a lot to learn still and I reckon I always will, however I know I will spend whatever amount of time needed for a customer to be happy with the end product.
Where are the real artists out there?

stay awhile

start a progression thread, there is lots of GD members that are willing to help if you want to put the time into it and are accepting of criticism without crying.
