Made a sig using GIMP with tyrael, probably a common render but justwondering what i can do with it, when it comes to adding stuff to the background im lost and idk what to do to enchance its looks/color/lighting

here are a few easy steps to become good at photoshop
1. get photoshop cs 5
2. read tutorials
3. live and breath your art
4. ????
5. instant profit.

Not quite the criticism I wanted, besides its more about the sig itself and not what i used to make it since they both mostly have the same things, besides that what can i do to improve?
Maybe i need better renders/stocks/fractals to use... cannot find a lot of good ones that fit well
