I can design the website. period..

But I don't know how to code. My father is a computer programmer who worked for Columbia Pictures and I'm sure he'd do it for free, but I can't ask him for something like that.

I have a friend that is amazing with computers. My last laptop before I switched to Mac broke. Dell wanted 3.5k to fix it, he fixed it for 100$ in 2 days.

Did I mention he can also code? But he can't design. That's where I come in.

My question is.. Before I ask him to do this without wanting to rip him off, how much does it usually cost to code a website? Just to code it.. I can design it.

Also.. Once it's made, how much per month does it cost to keep a website up and running?

Far too generalized to price a build out.. How often will it need updated? Should it be built with a content management system so you can easily update text/images? Are there any kind of bells and whistles outside of image/text?

u need to say if you need a CMS (wordpress maybe? would be cheap) then the number and level of complication of subpages..depends on many many factors. Regular website set on wordpress + frontend is around 400$ US

I want maybe (not yet sure) around 12 pages total.

Eventually when we grow I'll have all the bells and whistles, but for now I just want a simplistically well designed website that allows me to work through Paypal, looks professional, and not too amature, but not too over-done where people can't easily navigate the site and the clutter makes them not want to use the site.

I want it to link up with Facebook, Twitter, and Google..

I want people to be able to join / login to the site, which means I'll have to have something that makes people care about joining. I'll have a small forum eventually but I suspect that would cost too much, but maybe a Chat page, a Download page, and a Free page that you'd have to join to access.

I'm new to this (owning a website [and a company]), and I'm still doing my research so if there's anything I've left out that requires money, or something that even a cheap(ish) website for a business that sells products must have, please let me know so I can start planning my prototype design and get an estimate.

I would quote $800+ for building within a CMS and adding login + facebook integration/paypal/twitter/forum (forum software is free) etc

1. write down all the requirements
2. do some screen mock ups and flow
3. post it online and see what people are asking for
4. show your friend #3 and see what he'll ask for
