Hey dear graphic design forum :o
so i gotta 'design' some kind of product in 3D for university with Alias Autodesk Design ( we are only allowed to use that software) and having problems with finding a good concept...
it has to be something 'innovative'..not a completely new product but a product with additional 'functions' & a 'new' design.. e.g. a cube-formed cup which fits better into a cupboard etc..
i had some ideas but all of them would be too difficult for a beginner like me (that program is rly annoying.. i worked a bit with cinema 4d before and it was easier...) so i need something that's easy to accomplish :/ any hint would be extremely awesome. there's no need for many details or so, just some ideas that would work out for a noob such as me.

what level does this have to be?
and what kind of rendering are you using? default?

well we're just learning to actually use the program (atm our prof tells us how to move objects etc -,- useless) so i doubt that he expects too much of it..
if I have an idea and if it's not too hard to actually "design" with autodesk, i'll get it done.
e.g. some of the other students wanted to go for a new car design or so, but that would be waaaaaaaaay too much imo.
he showed us some examples and one of them was a shopping cart which could be "closed" on top... so kinda like a "protection" from whatever. nothing too fancy.

we just gotta sketch it and then design the thing within autodesk. it doesn't even have to work for real.. just some kind of "new" idea with a "new" design.

i guess we use default rendering yes... at least we don't have to change any of the settings when rendering.

/e: the first idea popping into my head was something about 2-wheeled inline skates with a small "motor"/dynamo inside which could be charged by riding the skates and then turned on by pressing some kind of button or so (I kinda got that from the manga "Air Gear" just because I enjoy inline skating and thought it might be a lot of fun)
right after I already dropped the idea because I didnt know what to change on a "shoe"-design so much that it would be called something "innovative"...

is it just modelling or do you have to animate it as well?

just modeling, animation is not necessary but possible if you want to.

k, our professor just said that it's more important to have a new design (e.g. better grasps, ergonomic design, ...) than a new function.
still no real idea that's easy to make.

already thought about that but idk how i'd design a "better" mouse o.o what do you think is wrong with the current ones / what can you improve?
also there are already so many designs that i'm not quite sure whether any idea will be "new"

but thanks already for trying to help me here :)

the difficulty-level for a mouse would probably be perfect... mhm
