This is a guide on how to either reduce the weight/quality of your signature/avatar, or how to reduce the size of your signature. Of course there are many ways to do these things, this is just (most likely) the simplest way to do so :)

Image editing progams:
  • Paint (Free)
  • Gimp (Free)
  • Photoshop
How to use these programs to change your image quality, or size:

Changing the size of an image is very simple. I think paint is the most commonly used image editing tool, since it's free and comes with the Windows OS, so I'll use that as an example.

Changing/reducing quality:

In most cases, users with overweight signatures are using images that are .png, or sometimes .jpg. Changing these extensions to .jpg (if you were originally .png), or .gif will reduce the quality of the image, and the weight. Here's what this looks like:

As you can see, there are many image types. As I suggested, using Jpg/Jpeg or gif images will reduce the quality/weight of your image a lot, in comparison to choosing a .png image. Please note: Reducing the weight of your image will also reduce the quality, so don't be too surprised if switching to .gif makes your image look a little less detailed!

Changing/reducing size:

Changing the size of your signature is as easy as pie. However, if you change the size of a very large signature, you make squish or stretch the image, thus distorting it. On some programs, such as GIMP or Photoshop, the program will shrink the image evenly so that you don't distort it, however, paint will force you to do it manually. If your image isn't TOO big, you shouldn't have a problem though.

First, go to the Image tab:

Next, click attributes. Additionally, you can use the shortcut CTRL+E to get there:

Lastly, click OK.

Then your image should be resized :)

Hope this helps!
