the circle bit is supposed to have something similar to this:
(tl;dr version)

now my question is: in Illustrator, how can i clip my shapes into other shapes?
i can't seem to merge the paths of the three wings of the triangle into one, cause i've applied a gradient on each individual shape. feels batman.

e/ that designs beneath 'bane' is really bothering me
can anyone help even it out?

This is what you wanna do:

First make the 3 shapes and place them in the position as it is on the image.

After this, open up the pathfinder and click the bottom left icon (the one I made a red square around in the pic) This should give you the result as in my pic below :)

Once you have done this, apply the gradients.

Pm me if you got any more questions ^^

bro, use the selection tool to highlight the anchors of the shapes you want to combine.
pathfinder tool > third one in on the bottum, should say "merge".
if done properly, all the paths from the previous shapes are now combined. you can highlight any unecessary anchors, and delete if needed.
