Reading's fine, but you really do want people who know what they're talking about to take a look over your work, talk to you about it, etc.
i agree, it is good to have someone with you who can look on your work with different sight.
but well, the thing is with internet (much easier than with persons to recognize who's talking bullshit) that there are millions of people who look over everything and then either tear it down or push it up.
anyway, basically if you do find something worthwhile to read, it does not hurt to read it because it's almost as useful as seeing and hearing things in real world.
