is oil harder to work with than acrylic? or is it a matter of preference?
i personally have only tried acrylic (my school's too cheap to buy oils)
and kakarot, when are you coming up north?
i'll probably be down when i can drive. legal age here has been pushed to 18 now. Everyone's pissed
each to there own...
acrylic is a nuisance to me.. it drys way to fast... now way to blend colors... idk i just hate it
with oil. i can premix my palette and all my colors. While painting i can continuously blend and add my main color to every other color to make the colors are harmonious.. I am able to start a painting, take a break after an hour... come back and continue painting while still being able to blend and use the same colors.
I use quick dry medium with my oil paints, so instead of 3+ days to dry, it takes about 1-2 days. I also use some linseed oil to make my paint easier to use. I use water soluable oil paints ( lol right? ) but there actually fantastic. Instead of having to thin down with thinner/mineral spirits i can just use a can of water... because mineral spirits can get spendy at times..... also there is less smell obv...
anyways, dont really like acrylics... I cant focus on an area and paint it without worrying about another side drying way to fast... cant use wet on wet technique with acrylic either :S which i love....
