the smudging wasnt a fail pat

the colors were ;~: i dont get the pinlighting in that psd

Use whatever layer style works best, don't focus on one. Experiment.
I personally rarely ever use pin light.

i wanted to throw something i dont know how he colors with pinlight its so interesting yet so infuriating

Layer styles highly depend on what kind of color you pick (less satured/more satured etc) as well as on the background (dark/bright etc).

I was so excited to check something new in this thread but.. I'm not a fan.
The smudging looks cool I just don't like the color / lighting to go with the render :/

Dont feel like the render belongs with those colors and I also feel like it needs more lighting.
