ok heres the thing... you are just scribbling...

press lighter with your pencil..... what hardness pencil are you using? hb? b ?

do smaller concentrated strokes ( nohomo )

just smoothly blend them with each stroke... i dont get how this is so fucking hard to understand lol..... you go from pressing light to harder to get a darker gradient..... just keep stroking so there is no white in between? press light and soft so there isnt visible strokes and if there is, so what?

Use this for a reference, it might help you. :) Like uncle said take your time. Don't be in such a hurry. If something looks like shit, correct it. Don't just move on and repeat the same mistakes.

That's because it's not round. Take UncleM's advice, slow down, and take your time. Spend a good 30-40 minutes on a sphere the size of your fist and try and nail it. Use a 2-4b for going darker at least.

also, your pencil doesnt always have to be at maximum fucking sharpness

sometimes dull can aid in the shading
