If you aren't rocking a very big work space and plan on using it for smaller things I would recommend getting a table top or work bench lathe. But if you are wanting a bigger lathe for larger pieces IE dining room tables or I personally build alot of open shelves so I like to use it on the supports you would need something bigger. This is where if you aren't careful you could drop A LOT of cash. If you are shooting for a large lathe anything under 1 horse power can fuck off. But table top anything over 1 hp and you could be asking for trouble.
Ya, i had kind of guessed this. but I;m still clueless, I would like the option of doing larger things.
can I get a metal lathe and use as a wood lathe? I get the option to buy metal lathes a lot.
