no ur not understanding
i have read all of week one and week 2
i dont understand what its saying

This guy is correct.

The instructions of this tutorial are very bland, and hard to make out, and understand exactly what he wants you to do.
When he asks you to use the Linear dodge layer, he doesn't specify if you use white, or a blue, or a purple, or a green..
Again im following these directions to a T, and using all resources given to us, and mine looks like fucking garbage.
:/

E: I've re read this tutorials 4 times before going and doing it.
I'm on an half and a half now doing this, and it's very confusing.
Using the resources given and him asking us to put the C4D on darken, it looks nothing like his..

The parts where he's not completely telling you what. like for example about the linear dodge, i think he just wants you to use a color from your tag.
thats sorta what i did. the parts of my sig that were red. i took sort of a dark red and put on linear dodge, parts that were blue, i used blue. ect.

I can't see the tut so I'm only assuming.
The reason he likely doesn't specify what colour he is using on the linear dodge is because the tut is not meant for you to replicate the tag.
It's created so that you can learn and create your own tag. You have to learn to experiment with the colours and see what looks best.
Whatever colour he used is not necessarily what will look best on your tag, so try and experiment yourself.

Don't compare what you've made to the maker of the tut. Remember (s)he has likely spent a lot more time on tagging than you have.
Skill isn't learned simply by reading a tutorial. You have to practice and experiment and see what looks best.

A tutorial isn't about what colour was used on linear dodge on layer 13, it's about learning how to use linear dodge in order to accomplish a certain look for a tag.

his face is still a bit bright, id lower it over there, i like whatever that crazy clawflowerc4dthing is a lot, but the effect on the right im not a real fan of

Oh, I thought he was referring to the background, only darkened that. :Z Thank you for clarifying.

C4d is one that I just pentool'd it to make it the proper shape. :D And I'll see if I can get rid of the blue effect on the right and manage to keep it from being too empty.

e/ For clarification though, do you think I should undo the changes I made to the background while darkening it? Or leave as is and work from here?

I think the canvas is too wide and the render too small.

Also, it's a good idea to sharpen this render a bit before you start, and fill up those white spots in her hair.

you went apeshit with softbrushing

e: and you also went apeshit with what looks like either textures or splatter brushes, as well as some mediocre fractals

make me a tag

e2: i have made tags with 5 layers and some with 120, the number of layers doesn't matter - it depends on what you change or add with each layer.

okay it feels as though ive made you 3 tags in the past month though
