the only details you see below are the rocks in the back, but even that's blended out
the rest was merely blocked in by a square brush, and then sharpened
you can always compensate with the sharpen tool to create more natural details that comply with your brush strokes

There is def texture all right, but you changed style 5 times while painting, or at least i get that feel. (neck, shirt, nose, eyes, cap, bg).
Make brushes work for you, not against you, use them to achieve a look faster with them, not to slow you down cause you have to paint over 100 times.
