looking great so far! rather than finishing the whole face, try to keep mastering the eye on the right, its looking very nice so far, I'd say work more on the bottom eyelashes then blending
maybe add some color and do shading, looks really nice though, good work

tablets + photoshop (or GIMP)
it's like a digital piece of paper that you draw on with a stylus - there are lots of different types (ranging from 50-1000s of dollars) and they look similar to this: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/P5YtE5aLoL4/0.jpg

yeah, id love to do more of this.. maybe a few life drawing classes and such (: it was really just something i wanted to do as usually i work with graphics/less traditional art
