draw a thousand figures posed differently
draw a thousand eyes, noses, mouths, ears, and then study the SHIT out of anatomy
use REAL LIFE REFERENCES or if you can't then use google images, but regardless, use real people


dont just draw and draw and draw without ever actually learning

I mean, it's not like figure/gesture drawing was ever an essential part of being an artist that mainly focuses on the human figure, right?

even if its this anime shit, you have to understand anatomy to be able to express it differently. Otherwise you're just strengthening bad habits

It's like trying to learn an instrument without ever doing scales or understanding music theory. Sure, you can play difficult songs because you figured out how to put your fingers in the right places, but when you enter a setting where you have to understand how to transpose something into a different key or from a different instrument, you're basically fucked
