The render looks too much like a cartoon.

hrm? imo it looks less cartoony than the anime render

Text looks a bit out of place and too distracting.
Seems you've overdone the emphasizing border section, which makes your render not blend very well.

Actually I'm quite the beginner myself though so nevermind my opinion

if your not going to follow instructions, don't bother.
We provided a specific render and textures for a reason.

@ Sanity, the textures colors etc are right, its just way to bright

@ Dizzy, yours is actually looking pretty nice! the reds a little strong but it works. Only complaint, it doesnt feel finished. Try popping in some more textures.

Funny, the regulars who don't need this topic followed the instructions.
This weeks lesson is about using resources. The resources provided were more than adequate to do this tutorial.

Dont take a multiplication test and turn in a paper on division.

work on the text some more, its very bland looking
also the bg is weak because its too chaotic and pretty flat, try adding color, depth, texture like in the tutorial.
the render placement / canvas size is good though, sharpness is nice and focal is clear
