no no, its music exams
probs a different system in the US
but here
you got 'grades' 1-8
grade 1 being basic playng of a couple notes
and 8 being basically mastereed your instrument, all scales etc. and high technical and musical understanding and shit

Imo.
No-one can master an instrument.
Only be very skilled.
