1) yep agreed, but i'm thinking i'm going to do it in another way, say if you get a encrypted file icon, it will start a 'cypher' mini game where you have to solve a word puzzle, and i might have a couple of other instances of mini-games, so you will only ever have to action these say 20% of the time, or 1 in 5 hacks, but you will get a bonus, also i'm considering how modifications can be integrated into changing mini games

2) Music is hard, i'm planning on having different music for hacking, something a little more intense & faster, not sure about the menu music tho, I thought the 'theme' music would be okay :/

2nd was fine for me and it seems it was the one you choose based on the video.

indeed it is, I started humming it a few days after i had heard it after soccer, narrowed those 2 tracks down from a list of around 20, i'm just curious about peoples opinions :) thanks.

Updates to the alpha of Spacehack!!!

I have some cooler command line things going on now, the experience is much more exciting.

Some new Features are:
  • Alternate Music when hacking, a bit more fast paced & fun.
  • Added a red outer gradient when you fail a job for added impact.
  • Some Placeholder Hacking in progress command line copy I want this to be a little more informative, relative to the job/your current upgrades.

Going to work on creating some nicer icons that appear at the bottom of the screen next, and then i can get stuck into a password cypher mini game for when you encounter an encrypted file :D

so the main game is sit and watch it load.....??? that seems... pretty lame. Is it just like this now because you are focusing on only UI and music elements currently or is this really the extent of the game?
I am hoping there is some sort of hacking user interaction planned or I really can't see a reason to download this.

it's kinda fun at it's current state, but no, as i mentioned in my previous comment:

basically the idea is that a mini game is triggered upon certain icon appearing, for the lock icon, it means there is an encrypted file and it will trigger the "cypher" mini game se the following:



the beauty of doing this is that it's a modular process, it means if i want i can trigger items and have more difficult mini games triggered whenever i want, but the thing is i have to code things in a particular order, and then i need to design graphic assets so i can motivate myself to keep coding :D

I only have 2 modules planned at present, and the other one is a bonus level, not quite sure how i will implement that.
