how is the shading?

depends where the light is, I mean, it's not that you have shaded that much of it yet.

the mouth supposed to be larger than his face?

the light is coming from the top left but yeah, the shading looks like shit. My colorblindness is fucking with me. Guess i will just have to practice on a ellipse or something.

I started over with the shading and will get it going as later after the practice.

About the mouth: hmm, i guess. It is basically a sketch i did a long time ago, maybe i should change the size.

shade it in a different colorthat you can work better with, with the same value, then switch it back to the color you want it to be

i was trying to shade it grayscale and when i am done put in color with a overlay brush.

Not sure what color i see best, i will just have to look it up. But i guess it is black and white.

just a suggestion, but if you're starting out to paint
what i did to learn light values was block in random shapes-
like pipes, wavy stuff, and even like a sphere
and then paint it as if it were all covered in shiny metal
