Well that might be cause I've never done pen-tooling before either but I still tried it, and holy hannah that's alot of tutorials.

I'm having alot of trouble following tutorials, it may be because the artist most of the time don't mention everything they do and also as a rookie I don't understand all the terms or things they use themselfs in the actual tutorial
I don't really know what to do

I made this tag just now following a tutorial to the half of it then I just literally played around in photoshop not knowing what I was doing, this was the result
Maybe it lacks lightning I don't really know? If so, what can be a good way to add crisp lighning to one's tag?

Idk, the background is kinda a mess and distracting a lot, and then the render doesn't really fit either
not a fan at all of this one really :x

For lighting I just soft brush it in, or mess with some adjustment layers or once in awhile do filter - lighting effects

I don't understand though what you guys mean with mess, I mean sure I know what it means but could you further elaborate on what exacly makes it a mess?
Sucks that you guys think so because I think this is my best one yet..
Could I remove anything or add anything to make it less messy? ;_;

The signature in my opinion is perfectly smudged, good colours, good lightning and somewhat good flow, so what is it lacking?

Every one of those is a complete lie. Flow is non existent, the smudge is vomit, lighting isn't just randomly throwing bright shit on top of it. It looks like you're just throwing shit together as fast as you can, then patting yourself on the back for a job well done. Slow down and take your time. If something looks like you shit all over the screen, then delete it or adjust it until it fits or looks better.

Okay yeah, I definitely over exaggerated there, I don't know what went through my mind. Apologies.
But I'm definitely not just "throwing shit together" as fast as I can, that signature actually took me a good 1,5 hours to make belive it or not :/ I know I'm terribad at PS still but as said before in my process I'm new to all of this

You just have to practice, and do the same thing over and see if you can manage different results
