v2 looks nice
however, i would tone down the red bottom part, add a little more of that blue/purp around the focal and finish it with a fat 20 px white border (optional :D )

i made some color/brightness adjustments to add some perceived depth and frame your focal in contrast, this way, your composition is strengthened with just colors.

e: my edit is slightly over-contrasted, but i wanted to emphasize how contrast is important to building composition and perceived depth in an otherwise flat effect layer.

That definitely looks better.. Thanks for the example. I'll have to play around with it later, I suppose.

Deleted hidden layers, now it's at 47 mb, haha. Also have quite a few layers that don't do anything, I'm sure..

Sharpened the cloth to make it stand out a bit more.
Added a Vibrance layer @ 90 vibrance and -20 saturation to harmonize the red in the upper right with the rest of it.

Something you should do is use layer masks instead of erasing.
Also at the end, apply image and mess around with adjustment layers/filters and see what happens.

Oh, wow, that looks a lot better.

I'll start practicing with the layer masks and the adjustments on my next one. Thank you.
