Might try something other than iron though, no matter what you do, it will rust. I'm not sure If pewter can be cast the same way Iron can, but It wouldn't rust like iron.




I wasn't aware anyone else in this forum knew anything about carpentry, but It is indeed an art. And something I do on a daily basis. I do agree

Tell that to the Staircases I'm replacing on this apartment
They are absolutely horrible with rust - completely ate through the bars in 1 year. Because it actually snowed last year.

Trust me its not much fun being a carpenter. I worked with my dad from when i was 13 until about 3 years ago whenever I realized that whenever people build new log cabins and such they always want new "rustic" looking furniture so i hooked up with a couple sub contractors my dad knew and now whenever someone wants something built for their new house I get first dips at whether i want the job or not. But trust me these people are fucking super picky. I've had to tear down a few pieces of furniture I was very proud of simply because people didn't like the way the stain they picked out looked or because they decided they wanted to use a different kind of wood.

I've thought about going into independent contracting for a Long time. Just don't have the resources for it yet. Really hope I get this phd so I don't have to do this the rest of my life

honestly, I'm trying to get into a machining company. and then do wood working on the side.

I work in a kitchen, 105 is the average temp while standing infront of a 6 foot grill. I know every one has their gripes, but lately Im really hating my job.

Yeah I shouldn't complain by any means. I mean hell I work whenever I want and make a good living doing it. I work from home all I have to do is walk across to my wood shop. But actually being a carpenter going out and working with some of the contractors around here is pretty shitty,

I agree man wasn't meant to be in a cubicle all day, but I would trade ya heh. Doc keeps telling me I'm not supposed to be doing what I do, and I'm worried that the company is going to drop me as a liability.
