Learn to lathe then or a cnc machine.  I just got a new JET JWL wood lathe and I am dying to try it out.  But I guess cast iron would work as well.

Oh and if you are going for exotic wood and you aren't needing a color match try out black and white ebony. It is out of Laos and a little more expensive. I made a glider for an older couple out of it and I beat myself every day for not talking a picture before I mailed it off. It was beautifully quarter sawed wood. A dark black with very light almost white pine colored natural swirls to it.



There is some amazing things you can do with conrete dyes.

Do you plan on doing just a flat top or any drop leaves?  I personally like a very simplistic design whenever it comes to table tops.  Occasionally I will use tile or put a design in with CNC if a customer wants something incredibly intricate but the most part usually just a flat top or leaved.  But for the legs on the other hand thats where I prefer alot of design.  Whenever I was nine or ten I watch my dad make a table where the legs were carved at the bottom to look like an old claw foot tub.  I was hooked after that.

No hes right that really isn't bad at all.  I once made a 3 pound table top for a game out of agarwood. If you aren't sure what it is google it.  I was damn near pissing myself everytime I had to do anything to it.

they shouldn't have cut it down the center like that though, way to much cracking. Some people like that though I guess.

there is a mill not too far from me, I'm going to go soon to see what all they have in stock.  hope they have some nice walnut.


and then, I just need to find someone to do custom cast iron. 

Though, I did learn how to build my own forge today.    though it looked like a pain in the ass to melt cast iron, way to much heat required.




I know its a good price, but I don't really keep 2 and a half grand on me.  gotta save up for it.
