Hi all and happy holidays
Wanted to add my 2 cents here so here it goes.
Back in the late 80's and early 90's your statement was true however there was a third system that nobody ever heard of named SGI and they helped Nintendo with the N64 and also made many powerful systems even by todays standards(super computers) .
Soon after that they where also helping Apple, NVidia and some other gfx company's. Now macs have the same hardware as pcs and there is very little difference hardware wise.
In the early 90s right on until about 2005 macs had an edge over many pcs due to its ability to render 3d graphics faster and also having friendly end user programs. Some of this technology was gained from SGI.
Now just about all computer have this tech build into the gpu, cpu or apu.
