Added the last dark green line and smudged it (barely noticeable, oversmudged?)

Added a layer with dark green filled in it, put it over the stock layer and put it on overlay

Added my c4d but it doesn't look good.. why? It is set between the dark filled layer and the forest stock, it is also set to dodge..

edit; I won't continue more today, I will wait for your reply because it seems I have done something terribly wrong!

Ok.

Lets go over what you did.

You picked a sprite render, which is a little harder. lets pick something else, and make sure its a high quality image.

Your back ground image is also low quality, pick something with a little more depth and color.

The render should be a little larger, its easier to add the effects when the render isn't with so much empty space.

Your smudging should be a little more sparse, keep some of the sharp curves and smudge the tips and make some wisps around the top. keep looking at the tutorial and try to mimic it.

you did the process for the c4d properly, but keep in mind you want to keep flow! which means you want it to compliment the way your render is facing and go with its lines!
also you done need to fill the whole canvas with the c4d, take your time and manipulate it to work for you.

Okay I got a few hours set aside for this later today and I will do my best!
Thank you for the tips so far, it is giving me a whole new understanding <3

I am sorry but that tutorial is too out of my league..
I just don't understand all the steps and it is very frustrating :(

I did however try another tutorial
This is the outcome;

It is not too bad imo..
Could you try to find me an easier tutorial please..?
I really want to learn..

edit;
added some minor details..

would have been nice to see you ask any questions.

the steps in this are a little harder, but were here to answer what you don't know.

Oh I thought I did! Omg sorry!

I was wondering where to find better quality renders (that one is from planet render..)
How to smudge like that? (my smudges always gets more transparent like if I would have set the opacity down which I don't)
Am I supposed to set down the C4D's opacity or just leave it like that? (it looks really bad in my opinion..)
The stock was HQ from start but I had to scale it down from like 4000x3800 to 800x788 and that is when it got pixelated and low quality..
Also I am having troubles with the render, I want it all to fit but then I have to scale it down, and then it becomes really small, but in most of my renders the height > width so I don't really know what to do there..
Also how come the darkest smudge didnt show at all? (the third smudge on the picture that goes through the character from bottom left corner to top right)
And also when he pasted in the C4D the picture only changes slightly, even if I set my C4D's to dodge they never blend in that well with the pictures (unless I lower the opacity, change all colour values etc.)
I was also wondering what fractals is? I might have used them but I've never come across the actual word
And I do not know how to use gradient maps..

Sorry I thought I wrote this earlier but I guess I was wrong ^.^

Go to deviantart or bakarenders, they got some good renders and deviantart has tons of other resources too
For smudging, you just have to practice it, there's no one way of doing it
Find a tut on smudging and just keep working on it
When you re-size images, hit ctrl+T and then hold shift while you size them if you don't already, doing that won't make them pixelated and LQ
C4Ds should be helping/adding to the flow of your tag, if it don't look right just find another, or change it's color, or erase some parts from it, or use another end or section of it
Don't worry about blending much until the end where you start using fill layers (or gradient maps if you want), these are usually set at very low opacity cause if it's too high you just ruin the color of the tag
I don't really know what fractals are either, but the way I see people use them, they're just effect C4Ds (have black backgrounds, you set them to lighten or screen to get rid of the black), most of the ones I've seen add light or just small details

Anyone correct me if I'm wrong anywhere or add to this, I just take from what I see others post or from what I read ^_^
