not sure where im going with this, but here is my outcome after first study

Study the .psd files some more. Always take your time when doing so.
Check every layer and try to understand how and why it has been done.
This includes the choice of colors and the layer settings.
Just some hints for you:
- stay away from a monotone colors
- always start with the dark smudge parts
Give it another go.
If I then still notice that you got problems understanding the basics, I'll make you understand them. ^^
