went back to portraits cus thats what im comfortable with, been going hard on this one for a while now tonight, started with line, got halfway through a value map, then decided to just start dropping in colors and work the values out(none of that overlay bullchit)

been watching alot of tutorials tonight, this ones got a ways to go but i figured id post it, maybe get some preliminary cnc

props if you can guess who it is (havnt added in the glasses and theres some issues with the likeness)

nicely done

a few things

i think there should be a bit of the " local " color on HIS left cheek ( our right )

that side of his face seems dead and with that shadow it looks very flat.

his right side cheek and face looks structured and has volume that is vn1

anatomy looks good too m8

keep it up

Finished it up, this is my first painting i would consider completed

heres with glasses, no bg color (the best one IMO)

I tried a BG that was bluish to make his face pop and make it look less boring, expirimented for a while but really never got satisfied

heres without glasses, adding them in i had to pretty much wing it because there was practically no visual information on them in my reference (which was like 300x200px), so i consider this version the most accurate

@unclemuscles ty for critique holmes, i tried to take what you said and add in some more blue to that side of the face but idk, it didnt look right when i just dropped it in heavy, its in there now just super subtle. Im really new with color so i dont have complete control of the warm/cool duality in skin tones yet, i can send the psd if you think you can help

also, still can nobody guess who it is?

this.
also with his glasses, make them more defined.
the only reason i saw he was wearing glasses was because of the nose bridge, you couldn't see the lenses at all, or any indication that there should be lenses.

And some slight shadows from the rims of the glasses, on his face. (wherever the rims are touching or almost touching his face)
